Common questions

Your questions, answered

Where in Brisbane can I get a full-body scan?
OneMRI partners with 7 trusted imaging clinics across Brisbane, all offering the same whole-body MRI: Chermside and Nundah in the north, St Lucia near the city, Inala in the south-west, and Logan Central, Meadowbrook and Springwood in the south. Choose the one closest to you when you book.
Do I need a referral to get a full-body MRI in Brisbane?
No. OneMRI is self-referred, so you can book directly without a GP referral. You're welcome to involve your GP, but it isn't required.
How much does a full-body MRI cost in Brisbane?
$2,990, including GST – one all-in price with no hidden fees or surprise add-ons. You start with a fully refundable $100 deposit, then pay the rest in steps. Your scan, radiologist review and doctor-led results consult are all included.
Is there parking or public transport at the Brisbane clinics?
Most Brisbane partner clinics have on-site or nearby parking, and Nundah, Logan Central and Meadowbrook are a short walk from a train station. Parking fees may apply at some locations, so it's best to double-check with your chosen clinic before your scan.
How long does the scan take?
The scan itself takes around 60 minutes. It's completely non-invasive, so there's no radiation or contrast dye – you can get straight back to your day.
Does a full-body MRI use radiation?
No. MRI uses magnetic fields, not ionising radiation, so there is no radiation exposure. The standard scan is non-invasive and does not use contrast dye.
What can a full-body MRI show?
It produces detailed images across around 13 organs and regions. A radiologist may see signs that could be linked to a range of conditions, which are then discussed with a doctor. It's a proactive look, not a diagnostic test.
When and how do I get my results?
An Australian radiologist reviews your images, then a OneMRI doctor explains your findings in plain language and helps you plan any next steps.
Can I claim it on Medicare or private health?
Unfortunately, Medicare doesn't cover preventative full-body MRI scans, and most private health insurers don't currently cover them either – it's worth checking with your provider. We're actively working behind the scenes to explore whether better coverage or partial support may be possible in the future.
Can a full-body MRI help find cancer early?
It could identify early signs of certain cancers and solid tumours, which a OneMRI doctor will discuss with you. It's a complement to – not a replacement for – recommended screening such as mammograms, bowel and cervical screening.
