Cardiac tamponade risk

Chest

Cardiac tamponade happens when fluid builds up around the heart and puts pressure on it, reducing its ability to pump. Early signs of fluid build-up can be detected before the condition becomes critical. An MRI may show changes in the space around the heart consistent with early fluid accumulation. Identifying pericardial fluid build-up early allows for monitoring and treatment before cardiac function is compromised.
