A cerebral AVM is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels in the brain that connects arteries and veins in an unusual way. Most are present from birth and many go undetected for years. An MRI may show signs of abnormal blood vessel structure in the brain. Finding an AVM before it causes symptoms allows for careful monitoring and timely treatment if needed.
