A colloid cyst is a small noncancerous cyst that forms in a specific part of the brain's internal fluid system. While usually harmless, a larger cyst can occasionally affect the flow of fluid in the brain. An MRI may show a colloid cyst as an incidental finding. Knowing a colloid cyst is present allows for monitoring of its size and any associated changes over time.
