Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Chest

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a genetic condition causing abnormal thickening of the heart muscle. It is the most common cause of sudden cardiac death in young people and often goes undiagnosed. An MRI may show changes in heart muscle thickness and structure consistent with this condition. Finding hypertrophic cardiomyopathy early allows for monitoring and treatment that may help reduce the risk of serious cardiac complications.
