Intracranial hypotension

Head & Neck

Intracranial hypotension happens when there is a reduction in the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid, the fluid that cushions the brain and spinal cord. It can cause positional headaches and other symptoms. An MRI may show characteristic changes in brain position and the meninges consistent with this condition. Identifying intracranial hypotension early may allow for treatment to restore normal cerebrospinal fluid pressure and relieve symptoms.
