Mediastinal cysts are fluid-filled sacs that develop in the central chest. They are usually noncancerous and found unexpectedly on imaging. An MRI may show a fluid-filled structure in the central chest as an incidental finding. Finding a mediastinal cyst allows for monitoring to ensure it remains stable over time.
