Enlarged lymph nodes in the mediastinum, the central chest space between the lungs, can happen for many reasons including infection, inflammation, or as a sign of lymphoma. An MRI may show enlarged lymph nodes in this region. Identifying enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes early prompts investigation into the underlying cause.
