Normal pressure hydrocephalus is a condition where cerebrospinal fluid, the fluid that cushions the brain and spinal cord, builds up in the brain's ventricles without a significant rise in pressure. It can cause a combination of walking difficulties, memory problems, and urinary incontinence. An MRI may show enlarged ventricles consistent with this condition. Finding normal pressure hydrocephalus early may allow for surgical treatment that could significantly improve symptoms.
