An oligodendroglioma is a slow-growing brain tumour that develops from the cells that produce myelin, the protective coating around nerve fibres. It can grow for years before causing obvious symptoms. An MRI may show changes in brain tissue consistent with an oligodendroglioma. Finding an oligodendroglioma early may allow for treatment planning before it grows or causes significant neurological symptoms.
