Tumours can develop in the pericardial sac surrounding the heart. They may be primary or secondary and can cause fluid build-up or put pressure on the heart. An MRI may show a mass associated with the pericardium consistent with a tumour. Finding a pericardial tumour early may allow for treatment before it affects cardiac function.
