Pulmonary cysts are air or fluid-filled spaces within the lung tissue. Most are noncancerous and cause no symptoms, often found unexpectedly. An MRI may show cystic changes in the lung tissue as an incidental finding. Identifying pulmonary cysts provides a baseline for monitoring any changes over time. CT is generally preferred for detailed lung cyst assessment.
