Silent stroke

Head & Neck
Blood Vessels & Circulation

A silent stroke is a stroke that happens without obvious symptoms. The person may never know it occurred. Evidence of past silent strokes can sometimes be seen in the brain. An MRI may show areas of the brain where tissue changes are consistent with a previous silent stroke. Finding evidence of a past silent stroke is an important signal to investigate and manage cardiovascular risk factors that may help reduce the chance of a future event.
