Subdural hygroma

Head & Neck

A subdural hygroma is a collection of cerebrospinal fluid, the fluid that cushions the brain, in the space between the brain and its outer covering. It can develop after head trauma or spontaneously. An MRI may show a fluid collection over the brain surface consistent with a subdural hygroma. Finding a subdural hygroma allows for monitoring and treatment if it grows or causes symptoms.
