A thoracic aortic aneurysm is a bulge in the lining of the aorta as it passes through the chest. It often grows slowly without any symptoms. An MRI may show changes in the size or shape of the thoracic aorta that could suggest an aneurysm is present. Finding an aortic aneurysm early allows for monitoring and may allow for intervention before it reaches a size that poses serious risk.
