Arteriovenous fistula - acquired

Blood Vessels & Circulation

An acquired arteriovenous fistula is an abnormal connection between an artery and a vein that develops after injury or surgery. It can cause increased blood flow through the connection and affect surrounding tissues. An MRI may show an abnormal vascular connection consistent with this condition. Finding an arteriovenous fistula early may allow for treatment before it causes significant circulatory complications.
