Arteriovenous malformation - spinal

Blood Vessels & Circulation
Musculoskeletal & Spine

A spinal arteriovenous malformation is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels in or around the spinal cord. It can cause worsening neurological symptoms as it grows or bleeds. An MRI may show abnormal vascular structures near the spinal cord consistent with this condition. Finding a spinal AVM early may allow for treatment before it causes irreversible neurological damage.
