A cerebral venous malformation is an abnormal collection of enlarged veins in the brain. Most cause no symptoms and are found unexpectedly. An MRI may show an abnormal venous structure in the brain consistent with a venous malformation. Finding a cerebral venous malformation provides a baseline for monitoring and helps distinguish it from more concerning brain findings.
