Coronary artery anomalies are congenital, meaning present from birth, variations in the origin or course of the arteries supplying the heart muscle. Most people are unaware they have one. An MRI may show an abnormal course or origin of a coronary artery consistent with a congenital variation. Finding a coronary artery anomaly is clinically important for risk assessment, particularly in younger people with unexplained symptoms.
