Hepatic vein thrombosis is a clot in the veins that drain blood away from the liver. It can develop gradually and cause liver congestion and damage. An MRI may show changes in the liver's venous structures consistent with a clot. Finding hepatic vein thrombosis early may allow for treatment before it causes significant liver damage.
