Inferior vena cava thrombosis is a blood clot in the large vein that returns blood from the lower body to the heart. It can develop without obvious symptoms and carry serious risks. An MRI may show changes in this vein consistent with a clot. Finding a clot in the inferior vena cava early may allow for treatment before it causes serious complications.
