Mesenteric artery aneurysm

Blood Vessels & Circulation
Abdomen & Pelvis

A mesenteric artery aneurysm is a bulge in one of the arteries supplying the intestines. It is uncommon but carries a significant risk of rupture. An MRI may show a focused widening of a mesenteric artery consistent with an aneurysm. Finding a mesenteric artery aneurysm early allows for monitoring and may allow for surgical repair before rupture occurs.
