Pelvic arteriovenous malformation

Blood Vessels & Circulation
Abdomen & Pelvis

A pelvic arteriovenous malformation is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels in the pelvis that connects arteries and veins directly, bypassing the normal circulation. It can cause pelvic pain or bleeding. An MRI may show an abnormal vascular structure in the pelvis consistent with this condition. Finding a pelvic AVM early may allow for treatment before it causes significant bleeding or grows larger.
