Popliteal artery aneurysm

Blood Vessels & Circulation

A popliteal artery aneurysm is a bulge in the artery behind the knee. It is the most common peripheral artery aneurysm and can cause clotting or reduced blood flow to the leg if not detected. An MRI may show changes in the popliteal artery consistent with an aneurysm. Finding a popliteal artery aneurysm early may allow for surgical repair before it causes limb-threatening complications.
