A renal artery aneurysm is a bulge in the artery supplying one of the kidneys. Most are found unexpectedly and carry a risk of rupture, particularly during pregnancy. An MRI may show a focused widening of the renal artery consistent with an aneurysm. Finding a renal artery aneurysm early allows for monitoring and may allow for surgical repair before rupture occurs.
