Renal vein compression

Blood Vessels & Circulation
Abdomen & Pelvis

Renal vein compression, most commonly the left renal vein being pinched between the aorta and the superior mesenteric artery, can cause a range of symptoms including pelvic pain and blood in the urine. An MRI may show compression of the renal vein consistent with this condition. Finding renal vein compression early may provide an explanation for symptoms and guide treatment planning.
