Thoracic aortic dilatation

Blood Vessels & Circulation
Chest

Thoracic aortic dilatation is a widening of the aorta in the chest that can precede aneurysm formation. It may be present without symptoms. An MRI may show an increased width of the thoracic aorta consistent with dilatation. Finding thoracic aortic dilatation early allows for monitoring and management that may help prevent progression to an aneurysm.
