A venous malformation is an abnormal cluster of veins that can develop in soft tissue or organs. They are congenital, meaning present from birth, and can cause pain, swelling, or complications if they grow. An MRI may show an abnormal collection of vascular channels consistent with a venous malformation. Finding a venous malformation early allows for monitoring and treatment planning before it causes complications.
