Lumbar radiculopathy

Musculoskeletal & Spine

Lumbar radiculopathy happens when a nerve root in the lower back becomes compressed or irritated, causing pain, numbness, or weakness that can travel down the leg. It is commonly linked to disc herniation or spinal stenosis. An MRI may show changes in the lumbar spine consistent with nerve root compression. Finding the cause of lumbar radiculopathy early may allow for targeted treatment before nerve damage becomes permanent.
