Shoulder impingement syndrome

Musculoskeletal & Spine

Shoulder impingement syndrome happens when tendons or the fluid-filled sac near the shoulder are compressed during arm movement. It can develop gradually and cause worsening pain and restricted movement. An MRI may show changes in the shoulder consistent with impingement. Identifying shoulder impingement early may allow for rehabilitation and treatment before rotator cuff damage develops.
