Spinal cord demyelination refers to damage to the myelin, the protective coating around nerve fibres in the spinal cord. It can be linked to multiple sclerosis or other inflammatory conditions. An MRI may show signal changes in the spinal cord consistent with demyelination. Finding spinal cord demyelination early allows for investigation into the underlying cause and treatment that may help slow progression.
