A spinal meningioma is a usually noncancerous tumour that grows from the membranes surrounding the spinal cord. It can compress the cord gradually over years. An MRI may show a mass near the spinal cord consistent with a meningioma. Finding a spinal meningioma early may allow for surgical removal before it causes significant neurological symptoms.
