Acromegaly is a hormonal condition caused by excess growth hormone, usually from a pituitary tumour. It causes gradual changes in body structure including enlarged hands, feet, and facial features. An MRI may show a pituitary mass consistent with a growth hormone-producing tumour. Finding the pituitary tumour responsible for acromegaly early may allow for treatment before significant structural and metabolic complications develop.
