Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or motor neurone disease, is a worsening condition affecting the nerve cells that control movement. MRI can show characteristic changes in the brain and spinal cord linked to this condition. An MRI may show signal changes consistent with ALS involvement. Identifying changes associated with ALS early may support faster diagnosis and access to specialist care and treatment.
