Antiphospholipid syndrome

Whole Body Systems
Blood Vessels & Circulation

Antiphospholipid syndrome is an autoimmune condition that increases the risk of blood clots in arteries and veins throughout the body. It can cause strokes, deep vein thrombosis, and pregnancy complications. An MRI may show changes in the brain and vessels consistent with clot-related injury. Finding evidence of antiphospholipid syndrome early may allow for anticoagulation treatment to help prevent further clotting events.
