Amyloidosis is a condition where abnormal proteins called amyloid build up in organs and tissues throughout the body. It can affect the heart, kidneys, liver, and nervous system. An MRI may show changes in affected organs consistent with amyloid build-up. Finding amyloidosis early may allow for treatment to help slow the build-up of proteins before organ function is significantly impaired.
