Adenomyosis is a condition where the tissue that normally lines the uterus grows into the muscular wall of the uterus. It can cause heavy periods and pelvic pain but is often found unexpectedly on imaging. An MRI may show changes in the uterine wall consistent with adenomyosis. Finding adenomyosis early allows for management of symptoms and informed decision making about treatment options.
