Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome is a genetic condition that increases the risk of kidney tumours, lung cysts, and skin changes. An MRI may show changes in the kidneys and chest consistent with this syndrome. Finding changes associated with Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome early allows for monitoring and treatment of kidney tumours that may help prevent them from becoming advanced. MRI is well-suited for monitoring renal lesions in Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome as a radiation-free alternative to CT surveillance.
