BRCA-related cancer risk

Whole Body Systems

People carrying BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutations have a significantly elevated risk of developing breast, ovarian, and other cancers. MRI surveillance is recommended as part of their monitoring. An MRI may show early changes in breast and pelvic tissues that warrant further investigation. Whole body MRI surveillance in BRCA carriers may allow for earlier detection of cancers before they become symptomatic. Breast MRI is recommended for high-risk BRCA carriers as a primary surveillance tool. Whole-body MRI also has an emerging role in broader cancer surveillance for this group.
