Dermatomyositis is an inflammatory condition affecting the muscles and skin. It can cause worsening muscle weakness and may be linked to underlying malignancy. An MRI may show changes in muscle tissue consistent with active inflammation. Finding dermatomyositis early may allow for treatment to reduce inflammation and investigation for associated malignancy.
