Diverticulosis is the presence of small pouches that form in the lining of the colon. It is very common with age and most people have no symptoms. An MRI may show changes in the colon lining consistent with diverticulosis. Finding diverticulosis allows for dietary management that may help reduce the risk of inflammation or complications. Colonoscopy is the preferred tool for detailed bowel assessment, however MRI may show colonic wall changes.
