Haemochromatosis - multi-organ

Whole Body Systems
Abdomen & Pelvis

Hereditary haemochromatosis causes worsening iron accumulation across multiple organs including the liver, heart, pancreas, and joints. Most people are unaware until organ damage has already begun. MRI can be used to help quantify iron build-up across multiple organs simultaneously. Finding multi-organ iron overload early may allow for regular venesection treatment to help prevent irreversible organ damage.
