Hairy cell leukaemia

Whole Body Systems

Hairy cell leukaemia is a uncommon slow-growing blood cancer that affects B lymphocytes. It often causes spleen enlargement and reduced blood counts. An MRI may show changes in the spleen and bone marrow consistent with leukaemic infiltration. Finding hairy cell leukaemia early may allow for treatment before significant blood count changes affect health.
