A hepatic cyst is a fluid-filled sac in the liver. Simple liver cysts are very common, almost always harmless, and typically require no treatment. An MRI may show one or more fluid-filled structures in the liver as an incidental finding. Finding a hepatic cyst allows for classification and monitoring to ensure it remains a simple noncancerous structure over time.
