An intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm, or IPMN, is a type of growth that develops in the tubes of the pancreas and produces mucus. Some remain harmless while others can develop into cancer over time. An MRI may show cystic changes in the pancreatic tubes consistent with an IPMN. Finding an IPMN early allows for regular monitoring to detect any changes before they progress.
