Mesenteric cyst

Abdomen & Pelvis

A mesenteric cyst is a fluid-filled sac that develops in the mesentery, the tissue connecting the intestines to the abdominal wall. Most are harmless and found unexpectedly on imaging. An MRI may show a fluid-filled structure in the abdomen consistent with a mesenteric cyst. Finding a mesenteric cyst allows for monitoring and surgical removal if it grows or causes symptoms.
