Mesenteric lymphadenopathy is when the lymph nodes in the mesentery grow too large. The mesentery is the tissue that connects the intestines to the abdominal wall. It can happen from infection, inflammation, or as a sign of other conditions. An MRI may show enlarged lymph nodes in the abdomen as an incidental finding. Finding enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes prompts investigation into the underlying cause.
