Ovarian cancer develops in the ovaries and is often called a silent cancer because early symptoms can be vague or absent. An MRI may show changes in the ovaries or surrounding tissue that could be associated with a mass. Finding ovarian cancer early, before it spreads beyond the ovaries, may significantly improve treatment outcomes. MRI is the preferred modality for characterising ovarian masses and assessing local spread. It provides superior soft tissue detail compared to ultrasound for complex lesions.
