Pancreatic cancer develops in the tissues of the pancreas and is known for growing without obvious symptoms in its early stages. An MRI may show changes in the pancreas that could be associated with a mass or abnormal tissue. Finding signs of pancreatic cancer early is one of the most significant early detections possible, given how few symptoms it causes until advanced stages. MRI with MRCP provides excellent detail of pancreatic structure and the surrounding ductal system. CT is also widely used for initial assessment and staging.
