A pancreatic pseudocyst is a fluid-filled sac that forms near the pancreas, usually following inflammation. Most resolve on their own but some persist or grow larger. An MRI may show a fluid-filled structure near the pancreas consistent with a pseudocyst. Identifying a pancreatic pseudocyst allows for monitoring and treatment if it grows or causes symptoms.
